8-3-23 THOUGHTS
A number of years ago, a man that I call my mentor passed away in a distant city. I thought of verse 27 below. I had so many things I’d like to have said to him, things that would have made him feel good, and things that he had given to me to lead me toward wisdom in my young life. I never really said them with the power and specificity he deserved! We bless each other’s lives so casually, many times flippantly! We take each other for granted. We often fail to honor RELATIONSHIP! We do it with each other, and we do it with GOD! Shame on us! Wisdom VALUES RELATIONSHIP! God gives us LOVE as the crown of wisdom, and asks us to PRACTICE IT WITH EACH OTHER! At my age, this discussion is VITALLY POWERFUL! Be wise! Take these thoughts seriously. LEARN LOVE, PRACTICE LOVE, VALUE LOVE! OUR LOVE is needful for a bunch of people out there! It’s time for OVERFLOWING CUPS TO SPILL OVER! Let’s learn the JOY of the SALVATION OF THE LORD!
Prov 3:13-27 How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. 14 For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast. 19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens. 20 By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew. 21 My son, let them not vanish from your sight; Keep sound wisdom and discretion, 22 So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck. 23 Then you will walk in your way securely And your foot will not stumble. 24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. 25 Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; 26 For the LORD will be your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught. 27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.
My Prayer:
Give us wisdom and understanding, O Lord, that we may live profitably and inherit Your blessings. May our desire be toward You and Your ways. In wisdom, may love and compassion rule our lives as we serve You. Help us to redeem the time You give us. May we walk wisely in the presence of the world, drawing souls to Your Son. Keep us from stumbling, O Lord. Especially keep us from tripping over ourselves. Help us remove selfishness from our lives that we might be truly free. In the name of the One who saves us, Amen.
